Project Proposal: [The Use of Mobile Learning Technique for Collection and Analysis of Data for Information Acquisition]
Background:
Generally, qualitative or exploratory research like this one, is basically used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations. It provides insights into the problem or helps to develop ideas or hypotheses for potential quantitative research. Therefore, this project is set out to find the feasibility and applicability of mobile learning and interactive online techniques of gathering information for making significant decision/conclusion based on a researcher’s hypothesis. At the end of this, we should be able to make a tangible premise on whether mobile learning techniques for collection and analysis of information for research purposes is viable or not.

Hypothesis:
if Mobile/interactive internet facilities tools are used for information gathering, researchers could have the opportunity to make quick, reasonable, rational and significant conclusions, especially in the area educational decision-making.
Objectives:
The main aims of this project is to:
-
Conduct a quality qualitative interpretation of research data gathered from mobile, online and web based learning and assessment tools.
-
Make concrete judgment on the application of mobile learning to information gathering in any discipline.
-
Report some rational findings relating to the application of mobile and online devices for solid qualitative analysis on postgraduate research and training.
-
Find the feasibility and applicability of mobile learning and interactive techniques in gathering information suitable for an adaptive research
Data sources:
For information gathering and acquisition on this project, two (2) major data sources would be employed.
-
Google forms: For sending and distributing questions through internet facilities and giving and receiving feedbacks
-
Wireless Response System (WRS): For interactive online assessment, grading and feedback.
Techniques:
Due to the qualitative and exploratory nature of the underlying project, the techniques and tools to be use for final decision, conclusion and suggestion, would have the capabilities of
-
Content searching and analysis for highly unstructured and mixed research method.
-
Text and image interpretations.
-
Transcription and abstraction of information gathered.
Our Research approach
For this project, there are four issues we need to consider before we can reach an expected, meaningful conclusion and make a reliable report of our finding at the end. Thus our conclusion shall be based on the predicates below:
-
Individual/unique case alignment – We will see each case of input from our chosen data collection methods as special and unique; therefore, we would take the first level of analysis as being true to, respecting and capturing the details of the individual case of study; cross-case analysis follows from and depends upon the quality of individual case studies.
-
Inductive analysis –Here we think about immersion in the details and specifics of the data we collected to discover important patterns, themes, and inter-relationships; these will begin by exploring, then confirming our findings, guided by analytical principles rather than rules.
-
Holistic perspective – for this aspect, we would take the whole phenomenon under study as a complex system that is more than the sum of its parts; and then focus on some complex interdependencies and system dynamics that cannot be reduced in any meaningful way to linear, cause and effect relationships and/or a few discrete variables.
-
Context sensitivity -- places findings in a social, historical, and temporal context; We will carefully examine meaningfulness of generalizations across time, space and perception; emphasizing more careful comparative case analyses and extrapolating patterns for possible transferability and adaptation in new settings.
Expected result:
This Qualitative research will stress the socially constructed nature of reality in the application of mobile/ online facilities in information gathering by reporting
-
Relationship between mobile online facilities in information gathering and analysis
-
Limitations and weakness of using this method
-
Value and advantage of these methods for research and learning
Scope
At this initial phase, this qualitative based project will basically focus on gathering information that is useful for the decision based on the integration of human rights studies to PhD degree education in certain field of discipline.

Summary:
The aim of this project is to make a worthy conclusion on the hypothesis that a quicker, viable research conclusion can be reached through using hardware devices and interactive online facilities for collecting research data. Though other system already existed in this aspect, our project is different because it will focus more on the usefulness of these information gathering means/media in significant educational decision making
